Frequently Asked Questions

Are tour guides going to go out of business?

No. The tourism industry is so large that we can co-exist with tour guides. While there are people who prefer the structure of a guided tour, there are many who want the flexibility to explore at their own pace. We enable users to enjoy the monument on their own terms while making the monument’s story heard.

Why not travel with a local you know?

While travelling with a local resident is a great way to experience a place like a local, not everyone has an acquaintance in the place they are visiting. Through WanderAR, we want to bring a similar experience to such tourists.

Don’t most monuments have information plaques that you can read?

The information provided on boards and plaques are static and limited. We go beyond what’s written on those plaques. We bring the monument to life by telling their stories and immersing the users in the experience.

Won’t AR take away from the experience?

While AR has the potential to distract from the real-world experience, WanderAR aims to enhance it by offering compelling storytelling narratives for monuments. Our goal isn't to tether users to their devices constantly, but rather to provide enriching stories that add depth and meaning to their visits, creating memorable moments they won't easily forget.

What is the accuracy and reliability of WanderAR?

At WanderAR, our primary focus is to deliver accurate information, which we intend to source from archaeological departments and historians working at the monuments we will be present at. We are also backed by a great team of advisors including esteemed archaeologists and historians, who will help curate and verify the information about these monuments. We are also continually growing our advisory network.

Can WanderAR work offline?

The lenses are stored on device, hence it is possible for it to work offline, but having an internet connection is preferred.

How can WanderAR help me understand and respect the local culture?

WanderAR aims to provide relevant information related to local cultural practices and norms so that our users don’t feel out of place when they’re travelling. They are equipped with the information required to have a holistic experience while travelling and also respect the local culture. For example, letting the user know that it is the norm to remove footwear before entering a religious place like a temple.
